Tribute Dinner
St Paul's initiated the Ignatian Challenge Awards in 1994 in order to recognize individuals within our community who embrace the ideals of St Ignatius Loyola and who reflect the characteristics and qualities inherent in a Jesuit education at St Paul's High School. Award recipients, through their leadership and commitment to service, become examples for our students of a lived faith and philosophy of becoming men and women for others. The awards are bestowed annually at the St Paul's High School Tribute Dinner.

St Paul's President Fr Alan Fogarty SJ is pleased to announce that Dr Emőke Szathmáry, immediate past President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Manitoba (1996-2008), is the 2009 Ignatian Challenge Award Honouree. "It is a great pleasure to have Dr Szathmáry as our 2009 Honouree. She has had a profound impact on our city, the university, and, through her efforts, at the University of Manitoba and St Paul's College on the development and accessibility of post-secondary Catholic education," said Fr Fogarty this January.
In the classroom, in research, in academic office and in the corporate and volunteer boardrooms, Dr Szathmáry has provided leadership through service. Through this leadership and in her commitment to service she is an example for our students of a lived faith and philosophy of becoming men and women for others.
