The Varsity Crusader Cross Country team ran the race of the lives to upset the defending provincial and WWAC champions, the Vincent Massey Trojans at the MHSAA Provincial Cross Country Championships held Wednesday Oct. 21  in Spruce Woods Provincial Park.

On a beautiful sunny fall day, and on a very tough running course, the Cru were led by grade 10 sensation Soren Fredrickson. Despite still being a Junior Varsity athlete, Soren placed 5th overall in the varsity race. The Cru were then followed by Riley MacCharles 7th, Chris Schmidt 11th, Mike Grossi 12th and Kahlil Diaz Hammond 13th (also in grade 10). Bryce Pfrimmer and Jess Neufeld also ran great for the Crusaders. The win is the 10 Provincial title for the Crusaders in the last 8 years.

In Junior Varsity action, grade nine runner Liam Barrett ran a great race leading the Crusaders to a fourth place finish. Myles Dancho, Nick Zinko, Andrew Proven, and Kurt Keats and Jake Hooker all ran well for the Cru. The Junior Crusaders fought tough despite having their two top runners competing as Varsity.

Congratulations to all 30 runners who made the trip out to Spruce Woods. Mr McMillan, Mr Sproll, and Mr Lussier would like to thanks you all for your dedication and hard work to make this year a success.
