In the closest team competition in recorded history, three teams finished within 6 points of each other at the MSHAA Provincial Cross Country Championship.
The Crusaders knocked off their arch rival Vincent Massey by 1 point, only to lose the team title by 5 points to a very strong team from River East.
The Crusaders were once again led by Riley MacCharles who once again showed why he will be considered one of St. Paul's Greatest Cross Country runners as he placed 6th overall (fourth year in a row in top 8) to lead the Crusaders. Grade 11 Kahlil Diaz - Hammond once again ran extremely well as did Thomas Toni, and Chris Schmidt. Rookie Kris Radke made huge improvements all year and rounded out the scoring for the Cru. Also running strong for the Cru were Kyle Leech, Justin Lawrie, Andrew Proven and Martin Michalak.
The coaching staff would like to commend the heart and soul that this team showed throughout the year. Despite losing several key runners to injury and illness, this group always believed and ran as true champions today.
Congratulations to all the Varsity Crusaders who competed, trained, and committed themselves to being a 403 athlete.
