An Important Announcement Regarding Mr Shawn Alwis '00, Director of Advancement & Alumni Affairs

Dear Members of the St Paul's High School Community
I am writing to inform you that Mr Shawn Alwis '00, Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, provided his notice of resignation effective 1 July 2013. At that time he will pursue personal business interests as he assumes the role of President of McGillivray Business Park and Vice-President of T2K Enterprises Inc. In this new capacity, he will lead a major land development project while overseeing numerous properties and businesses in the City of Winnipeg.
During Shawn's four plus years at St Paul's he has played an instrumental role in developing the Advancement Program to an unprecedented level. The implementation and success of a $1 million per year Giving Program and the $15 million Partners in the Mission Campaign would not have been possible without Shawn's dedicated leadership and tireless efforts. His meticulous attention to detail with the Ignatian Challenge Award Tribute Dinner, which he first chaired as a volunteer in 2008 prior to being employed at St Paul's, is one shining example of Shawn's commitment to bringing awareness to St Paul's High School and his zeal to improve the School's fiscal house. Throughout his time with St Paul's Shawn has grown the Tribute Dinner to record sell-outs and the events net proceeds have increased by 500%. He has helped improve the St Paul's brand and communication with our various stakeholders through our many publications, our website and e-newsletters. This type of progress with Alumni and Community initiatives, coupled with the support and generosity of benefactors and friends, has helped mature the Bursary Program significantly -- providing more students than ever before with the opportunity to benefit from a St Paul's education.
All of us are grateful to Shawn for the time he has committed to St Paul's and for ensuring the completion of important projects prior to commencing his transition to his new roles and responsibilities. I am also thankful to Mr Tom Kleysen '76, with whom Shawn will be working, for his collaboration in developing a generous transition period for Shawn's departure.
Our entire community has benefited from Shawn's time at St Paul's High School and I look forward to working with him on completing the Capital Campaign and other major initiatives as well as celebrating his many contributions and accomplishments over the months ahead. During this same period of time I will consult with President-designate, Fr Len Altilia SJ, on the process of securing Shawn's replacement. Please join me in thanking Shawn and wishing him every blessing of health, wisdom and prosperity with his upcoming ventures.
