Day 3 of the Provincial Track and Field Championship finished off with high drama for the Crusaders as the Junior Varsity won the Provincial Championship Team banner.
The Junior Varsity were once again led by the heroic efforts of Shane Dillon and James Teschuk. Dillon sacrificed his own chance at gold in the 800m by running the 3000m earlier in the day to get some crucial team points. In the end Shane finished 4th in the 3000m and ran an amazing time of 1:58 in the 800m to grab the silver medal. Shane finished the meet with one gold, two silver and one fourth.
James Teschuk fought off disappointment by not making the final in the 200m by running the race of his life in the 400m. Techuk's time of 51.9 was a 2 second personal best and won him the gold medal. An hour later Teschuk anchored to 4X100m relay team of Austin Coutts, Stefan Hreno, and Trevor Wright to a bronze medal which sealed the team victory over a very strong Selkirk Royals team.
A job well done to all Junior Varsity team members who competed hard for the Cru this weekend.
