Day 3 of the Provincial Track and Field championship came down to a 4 team race for the overal title. A devastating botched hand off cost the Varsity Crusader a chance at the overall Team title. The Crusaders placed 3rd overall in the Province.
Patrick McCaughtery stepped up for the Crusaders by winning the gold medal in the 100m hurdles. His lighting fast time of 13.9 was just off the provincial record despite running into a strong head wind. His teamate Shiloh Johnson raced a tough 800m and was narrowly edged out for silver and ended up claiming the bronze medal.
Jayden Pollock, ranked 28th of 30 competitors coming into the Multi- event, competed hard and surprised everyone by placing a respectable 7th giving the Crusaders a chance at the team title. Jayden was seen inhaling the free hotdogs that were being given away after his grueling final 800m.
All team members are to be commended for competing hard and representing the school with class. Special congrats goes out to Patick McCaugherty who competed in his final event as a Crusader and left a Provincial Champion. Way to go Patrick, good luck next year competing at U of M.
