News2009 Ignatian Challenge Award Honouree Announced

St Paul's President Fr Alan Fogarty SJ is pleased to announce that Dr Emöke Szathmáry, immediate past President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Manitoba (1996-2008), is the 2009 Ignatian Challenge Award Honouree.

"It is a great pleasure to have Dr Szathmáry as our 2009 Honouree. She has had a profound impact on our city, the university, and, through her efforts, at the University of Manitoba and St Paul's College on the development and accessibility of post-secondary Catholic education," said Fr Fogarty this January.

In the classroom, in research, in academic office and in the corporate and volunteer boardrooms, Dr Szathmáry has provided leadership through service. Through this leadership and in her commitment to service she is an example for our students of a lived faith and philosophy of becoming men and women for others.

The proceeds of the annual Tribute Dinner support the Bursary Fund, an essential aspect of a Jesuit education at St Paul's High School. All students and the entire school community benefit from your generosity in support of the Tribute Dinner and the Bursary Fund.
