NewsCrusaders off to a fast start at the Provincial Track and Field Championship

The Crusader track and field team got off to a great start as both the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams won silver medals the the medley relay. Both teams were ranked 6th coming in and ran strong to challenge for the win.

The Junior Varsity team was starting off with Soren Fredrickson running the fasted 800m leg of the relay and giving the Crusaders a solid 20m lead. The 200m legs were run by Kyle Leech and Julian Gambalan, they continued to hold the lead with Chris Schmidt anchoring. Chris ran a strong anchor leg leading most of the way only to be passed in the last few meter losing by 3 tenths of a second.

The varsity team was led by Isaiah Klassen running despite being very ill. He handed off the baton to Christian Hansen and then Tanner Twerdun who brought the Crusaders within 10m on the lead. Chris Popel closed the gap but could not over take the runner from River East.

Great Performances by both teams.

Check out the great photos taken by Deondra Twerdun.

Action continues tomorrow at the U of M with Crusader Athletes competing in a number of finals.
