Student Council Spirit Week

Next week is SPIRIT WEEK, but there’s a twist. St. Paul’s, welcome to Grade Wars!

All week, each grade will be in competition with one another in a grade wars tournament and there’s a couple different ways you can earn points. 1. Each day you participate in the dress code, you earn 1 point for your grade. 2. For every win at lunch time activities, your grade can earn up to 500 points! See below what Student Council has planned for you!

*If participating in the dress code theme, stickers are available at the Cass Gym Link until 8:30. After that, they can be found in the Library from Mrs. Ridley and Ms. Janzen. Please note, as usual, the dress code theme should be easily identifiable and there is no $2 option for casual dress code.

Monday, May 26

Dress Code Theme: Jersey Day
Students and staff are invited to wear clothing from any sports team! Jerseys should be clearly identifiable; hoodies/jackets or backpacks with simple logos will not count for this dress code.

Lunch Activity: 3 Point Contest

Core groups will be asked to elect 1 student to participate in a 3-point contest in the MultiPlex. Each student will get 5 shots from different places along the 3-point line of the basketball court. Each successful basket earns the student a point, contributing to the grade’s overall score with the first place grade claiming 500 points.

Tuesday, May 27

Dress Code Theme: Twin Day

Students and staff are invited to pair up with someone, making themselves a set of twins for the day! The twin outfit does not need to be an exact match but must be quite similar to count. Both twin participants will need to come to the dress code booth together to receive their stickers.

Lunch Activity: Egg Drop Competition

Each core group will be asked to provide 2 students to compete in an egg drop competition. The event itself will take place off the Alumni and Friends balcony onto the stone area outside the Fitness Centre. Students will be given 30 minutes to craft a contraption that will protect their egg for the drop using supplies provided by Student Council. For every core group whose egg remains completely unbroken, they will receive 200 points for their grade!

Wednesday, May 28

Dress Code Theme: Anything But a Backpack DayStudents and staff will pack their supplies for the day in anything that can contain them. Examples include: golf bags, laundry bins, wagon, toolboxes, drawers, pet carrier and more!

Lunch Activity: Four Corner Dodgeball

Core groups will elect 1 student to participate in a game of 4 corner dodgeball. The teams will be split into grade levels with the corners divided to show clear boundaries. Regular dodgeball rules apply with possible second and third rounds taking place for a chance to increase grade war points!

Thursday, May 29

Dress Code Theme: Beach Day

Students and staff can hit the beach early with colourful shorts, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, beach hats, etc. No swimsuits or tank-tops will be allowed. If students wish to wear sandals, sock must be worn with them.

Lunch Activity: Mario Kart Tournament

Each grade will sign up 6 students on a first come, first served basis. The tournament will consist of four races. Each team will be split into two teams of three students. Team 1 will race in the first two rounds, and Team 2 will race in the final two. In each race, three students per team will take turns completing one lap each, forming a relay-style race.

From May 26th to June 10th, our school will be conducting intensive preparation sessions and oral exams for French language proficiency. It is crucial that your sons attend school regularly during this period to adequately prepare for and present their oral exams.

These oral exams not only contribute significantly to their overall French language proficiency assessment but also offer invaluable opportunities for practical language application and skill development.

Your support in ensuring your sons' attendance and readiness for these exams is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
