Event Coordinators Needed

The Freshman Retreat Coordinator Shadow

We are looking for a volunteer to shadow our current Event Coordinator for The Freshman Retreat. This role is a one-day commitment. The shadow would work alongside the current coordinator to see how we support The Freshman Retreat. This is a daytime volunteering (11:00-1:00ish) opportunity with the date being set on December 12/25 for this year. The shadow would then be in charge of coordinating the event next year. Please email Karen Andersen at volunteercoordinator@stpauls.mb.ca if you are interested.

Grad Convocation Reception Co-chair

We are also looking for a co-chair for the Grad Convocation Reception. This is a daytime, two-day commitment (June 29 & 30/26). You would work alongside the current co-chair who has planned this event for a couple of years. You and the co-chair buy supplies for the event, prepare food and beverages for the event, and are on site for the Convocation Reception. Many other volunteers help with preparing food and beverages. This is a larger scale event that draws a huge number of school community members. Please email Karen Andersen at volunteercoordinator@stpauls.mb.ca if you are interested.

CRU Shoppe

Volunteers are required over lunch hour.

Photo Retakes and School Yearbook

If your son missed the original photo day AND missed photo retakes this week, he must contact Ms Kolton about submitting a photo for use in the school yearbook.  Student names are attached to the school photos, so failure to have a photo taken will result in the student not appearing in name or image in the yearbook.

From the Counselling Department

Scheduled Personal Counselling Sessions:  Every grade twelve student at the school has now had a scheduled one-to-one visit with his counsellor.  We are moving on to meeting all of our grade nine clients. In the coming weeks all grade nines will have a scheduled one-to-one visit.  The focus of individual meetings in grade 9 is to get to know our new clients.  We will check on mental health, discuss academic concerns, and assess how each student is faring socially in his new environment.  We will review what services the counselling department can provide and answer any questions your son may have.

As always, if your son would like to schedule his own appointment, he can drop by in person or send a message on Teams.  Parents can also reach out to counsellors by phone or email if they feel their son would benefit from an earlier appointment.

Scholarship Featured this Week

Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship is a $16,000 scholarship for students with a 90% average in particular courses in grade 11, accomplishments in leadership, communication and special abilities; as well as community involvement.  Applications are due Dec. 1st.

Each team will be permitted to have one exercise mat as cover that can be set up prior to the start of the game and not moved afterwards. The grade that finishes first overall will have the opportunity to play a staff team if time permits. Student Council members will referee the games (once hit, you are out; if you catch a ball the thrower is out; no headshots). The size of the court will be marked using cones.
