Help us replace our scoreboard!

Our outdoor scoreboard on Connolly Field has served Crusader Football, Rugby and Ultimate Frisbee for more than 20 years, but now it’s showing its age. Parts are no longer available and a full replacement will cost more than $70,000.

Thanks to some incredible alumni and friends, we’ve launched an online raffle to help offset these costs toward a brand-new digital scoreboard that will keep our fans and athletes in the game for years to come.

There are 10 amazing prizes including a bucket-list weekend watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on Navy, free coffee from Tim’s for a year, Lake Winnipeg fishing trip and much more! (Full prize descriptions are available on the Rafflebox link below)

Tickets: 1 for $10 · 4 for $20 · 20 for $50 · 100 for $100

Raffle Closes: October 9, 2025 at midnight

Raffle Draw: October 10, 2025 at 10 a.m.

Monday, 29 September: Schedule III - Orange Shirt Day

All students are to report directly to their core group locations at 8:30 a.m.  Core Group leaders will show a video and present other educational resource for students.  Engaging discussions will also be lead by core group leaders.  Student wearing their orange shirts will be permitted to wear appropriate casual wear this day.

Tuesday, 30 September: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, St. Paul’s High School will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a statutory holiday that honours the memory of Indigenous children who died in residential schools and acknowledges the lasting impact of the residential school system on survivors, families, and communities. This day is a vital part of our collective journey toward reconciliation.

To mark this important occasion, the Maroon and White Society invites the entire St. Paul’s community — students, staff, families, and friends — to participate in a community gathering at FortWhyte Alive, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free, and all are welcome.  Click HERE for a poster highlighting some of the following items.

As a school group, we will gather for a Powwow demonstration at 10:30 a.m. at the Paul Albrechtsen Visitor Centre (second floor), led by Knowledge Keeper Jason Parenteau. Following the Powwow, students are encouraged to explore a variety of educational and cultural activities across the site, including:

  • Visiting a mini tipi and learning about its significance with Knowledge Keeper Jaime Grasby
  • Participating in a self-guided scavenger hunt on the 7 Sacred Teachings (Niizhwaaswi Gagiikwewin)
  • Engaging in Indigenous games with the Manitoba Aboriginal Sports & Recreation Council
  • Exploring hands-on activities throughout the grounds

Students will be responsible for their own transportation and will not be supervised by school staff. However, several Maroon and White members will be present to support the event. We encourage students to wear their St. Paul’s branded orange shirts as a visible sign of solidarity and support.

To recognize student participation:

  • Attendance will be collected between 10:00–10:45 a.m. outside the Paul Albrechtsen Visitor Centre
    • Students who attend the Powwow will receive a free dress code day on Wednesday, Oct 1
    • Dress code stickers will be distributed from 9:00–9:30 a.m. in front of the Cass Link
  • Students will be invited to complete a short reflection form after the event, sharing something they learned or a perspective that challenged them
    • Those who submit the form by Thursday Oct 2 will be entered into a draw for a free lunch special.

Event details available here.

Wednesday, 1 October: Late Start for Students

Schedule IV is in effect.

The Maroon and White Society will be hosting the Get Involved Fair during lunch on Wednesday, October 1st. This event is a showcase of the many clubs, sports teams, and extracurricular activities available to students, both new and returning.

The Get Involved Fair (GIF) is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore their interests, meet peers with similar passions, and learn more about what our school community has to offer. From clubs like Dungeons & Dragons, debate, and board games, to athletic teams such as wrestling, and ultimate frisbee there is something for everyone.

Participating in extracurriculars not only helps students build friendships across grade levels, but also encourages personal growth, teamwork, and a stronger sense of belonging within the school. We hope your son will take advantage of this chance to "get involved" and make meaningful connections.

Thursday, 2 October: North American Martyrs' Liturgy

Schedule V and Dress Code V are in effect for an all school liturgy celebrating the North American Jesuit Martyrs. All students are expected to attend. Students should report to their core group locations at 8:25 a.m. and wait to be called to the MultiPlex. Parents are welcome.

A smudge ceremony will be part of our liturgy.  Although we take steps to ensure the best ventilation for an event like this, some may still be sensitive to the smoke.  If this is the case, students are asked to let a teacher know and alternate seating/space will be provided.

St. Paul's High School's annual Crusader Raffle, in support of the Bursary Fund, will be briefly discussed following the liturgy.  Crusader Cash Raffle will launch on Friday, October 10th. All proceeds benefit School Programs and The Grad Fund. All tickets will be sold and monitored online. More information to come from the Advancement Office and the online raffle provider, Rafflebox.

Class of 2026 Pizza Lunch

Sponsored by the President's Office, members of the Class of 2026 will enjoy a pizza lunch and ice cream for dessert. The event will take place on Monday, 6 October, 12:00 p.m., in the MultiPlex.

From the Counselling Department

The counselling department began individual interviews with grade twelve students this week.  We will discuss post-secondary plans, career aspirations, mental health, and any other topics your son raises.

Once we have met with every student in grade 12, we will begin interviewing our grade nines.  The focus of individual meetings in grade 9 is to get to know our new clients.  We will check on mental health, discuss academic concerns, and assess how each student is fairing socially in his new environment.  We will review what services the counselling department can provide and answer any questions your son may have.

As always, if your son would like to schedule his own appointment, he can drop by in person or send a message on Teams.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities for Students in All GradesExtra-curricular activities are a great way to get involved in the school community, have new experiences, and meet new friends.  St. Paul’s offers may teams and clubs that students can chose from.  To view a list of activities and their moderators, please click here.

Extra-Help and Tutoring

Daily Math Help:  Students in any grade who would like help with math can drop by Room 105 Tuesday and Thursdays at lunch.  Math teachers and peer tutors will be available for assistance.  No appointment is necessary.

Peer Tutoring:  The counselling department has a comprehensive list of current students who tutor their peers in various subjects.  This is a convenient option as the tutoring occurs at school and is inexpensive.  Students interested in a peer-tutor match should contact their counsellor.

Adult Tutoring:  The counselling department maintains a list of adult tutors who tutor in a given subject area, either at the school or at a student's home.  Tutors set their pay rate.

Parents of Grade 12 students:

If you are interested in the information that was presented to your son on the topics of university and scholarships, you may want to watch a video ( Video for Parents 2026 ) of the presentation.  We are encouraging our senior students to be especially organized and independent in their final year at St. Paul's, so parents should feel no pressure to manage this material.

Students planning to attend a university in Ontario must apply to one centralized site called OUAC.  Applications are then forwarded by OUAC to up to three universities of the student’s choice.  The OUAC portal opened this week and is now accepting applications.

Scholarships Featured This Week:   1.  IndSpire Scholarships for Indigenous Students which is an organization that manages applications for multiple scholarships using a single application and the Strike Equality Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships (categories of Canadian Immigrant, Indigenous, LGBTQS+, and Western Canadians).

Due dates vary by the category applied for.

Parents of Grade 11 and 12 Students Interested in Business

The following opportunity was advertised to students this week: The Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba is hosting a Case/Consulting Competition.  Students will work in teams of four to solve real-world current business issues.  Each team will make a fifteen-minute presentation to a panel of experts followed by a ten-minute Q&A. The winning teams will present again at the end of the day.
