Importance of Remembrance

While November is recognized as a time of Remembrance for many across Canada, Remembrance is a year-long commitment. There are many opportunities available to anyone wishing to show their appreciation for those who served. Most importantly, we should all take a moment now and then to reflect on the freedoms and peace in our lives, to remember the men and women who served and sacrificed for all we have today, and to pray for peace and eternal rest for all who lost their lives protecting the freedoms of Canadians. Lest We Forget.

Prayer Cards

In the month of November we remember our dearly departed relatives and friends in our daily Masses and prayers. If you wish to have us pray for their souls please fill out THIS CARD and email it to Fr. Boutilier at mboutilier@stpauls.mb.ca

Prayer of Remembrance
Lord our God,

Today we remember times of war, times when men and women served our nation, and fought and died so that we might live in freedom.

We are thankful for the sacrifices that our soldiers, sailors, and aircrew made so that their brothers and sisters and the generations that followed them could live in peace.

We recall those who served far away, and those who served at home, and we thank them for what they have done to hold high the torch and take up the struggle against evil.

We thank you, Lord, for those who serve today in the armed forces, and we humbly pray that you keep them safe and make their labours a force for peace in the world.

May all nations and peoples on earth live together as one family–to care so that no one will be oppressed or afflicted by violence–to love and respect one another despite our differences, so that freedom might be a reality and that your Kingdom may be realized in our world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

From the Counselling Department

Congratulations, Mr Daman!

The newest member of our counselling department became a dad on Monday, October 30th with the birth of his daughter, Audrey. Mr Daman will be away from the school for a five-week paternity leave. In his absence, any of his counselling clients should feel free to request appointments with Mr Dainard, Ms McGill, or Ms Kolton.

Individual Counsellor Meetings

The counselling department has now met individually with every grade twelve student to check in on mental health and to discuss plans for next year. We are also close to finishing up meetings with each of our grade nine clients. Our grade nine appointments focus on explaining our confidentiality agreement, discussing the many resources that counselling has to offer, and filling in a detailed questionnaire to begin to get to know our new clients. Meetings with grade ten and eleven students are next. As always, we continue to take appointment requests from students at any grade level, as well as referrals from teachers and parents who have concerns about a student.
