Mission Week Supporting Inner City Youth Alive (ICYA)

From November 27th to December 1st, the Maroon & White Society will be hosting Mission Week 1 - a campaign of education and fundraising supporting Inner City Youth Alive (ICYA). ICYA is a Christian North-End organization that provides a safe, active, and nurturing environment for children and youth, many of whom experience poverty, abuse, and neglect. ICYA engages local kids by offering quality programs through which relationships grow. These supportive relationships play a vital role in the lives of hundreds of children who are at risk. ICYA volunteers run valuable programs, such as a drop-in program, a hot meals program, a summer and winter wilderness camp, and much more!

To help support ICYA, the Maroon & White Society is hoping you will contribute through the following initiatives:

Casual Dress Code: Each day from Monday, November 27th to Friday, December 1st, there will be a casual dress code available in support of ICYA's wonderful work. With a minimum donation of $2, you can purchase a dress code sticker from a booth at the Student Entrance or Cass Gym Link. NEW this year: Students can pay with cash, debit, or credit (with an additional $0.25 tap transaction fee).

Donut Sale: Start your week off on a sweet note! On Monday, November 27th, for a suggested donation of $2 you can purchase a donut. There will be a great assortment to choose from! Donuts will be available in the main hallway between the library and the Aulneau room.

Food Drive: On Wednesday, November 29th you can EITHER provide a non-perishable food item in support of ICYA's Christmas Food Hamper OR donate a minimum of $2 in exchange for a dress code sticker. (Requested food items are pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, canned corn, canned mushrooms, canned soup, canned fruit, noodles, pasta, and beans.)

Pizza Sales: What better way to help a great cause than to buy some pizza! On Friday, December 1st, you can enjoy a medium pizza and a canned drink of your choice for just $10! Please order your pizza using THIS FORM. Then pay for your order using cash, debit or credit (with an additional $0.50 tap transaction fee) at the Maroon and White booth near the Cass Gym Link EVERY LUNCH HOUR between Wednesday, November 22nd and Tuesday, November 28th. Orders and payment are due by November 28th.

Walking United Educational Presentations: Multiple workshops and presentations will take place on Wednesday, November 29th (Schedule V - Mandatory A.M. Activity). Grade 9s will be in their core groups watching a documentary and participating in a simulation activity. Grade 10, 11, and 12 students have signed up to attend one of several educational workshops being presented by several guest speakers.

Thank you, and let's make Mission Week 1 a great success!

From the Parent Guild

Thank you!

Thanks so much to all our volunteers. We needed a lot of help to run our Parent Guild Activities this month and the SPHS parent community stepped up!

The only thing we require this month is some baking for the November 28th Band Concert. If you are a band parent or an avid baker, please consider donating some items for this event. Please drop off cookies, dainties etc to the front reception on November 27th or November 28th
